"So, are we just going to stand here and rest our arms on this railing?"
That was the line that sparked it all, and soon everything began to fall into place. Both Derek and James suffer from back pain, so sitting in the bleachers quickly becomes uncomfortable. Leaning forward on the railing, resting on their forearms, gave them a chance to stretch and find more comfort.

"We should cut up a pool noodle and strap it to the rails," one of us said, while watching their kids at their first hockey practice of the season.
"I’ve got pool noodles at my place."
"I can bring something to strap them on with."
Two days later, Derek and James met again at their sons’ practice. The idea was in motion. It all started with a pool noodle and some Velcro tape strapped to the railing.
"Wow, this is actually pretty sweet."
"Imagine if your kid’s name was here."
"And the logo right here."
"Then a football version for the field."

There was a pause, a smile, and a shared look. They realized from then on, they’d need to keep things quieter. Let the fun begin!
Within a month, Derek had borrowed a sewing machine, and the work began. They tested various fabrics until they found the one that worked for sublimation.
"Don’t put the cart before the horse."
"Did we seriously invent something?"
A patent search followed. They eagerly waited for the results, and on their drive back to Vernon from a hockey tournament in Banff, the email arrived.
"They didn’t find anything!"
From there, they refined their prototype with the help of a patent lawyer, fine-tuning the key components until they had the dadpad™ that you see today.
The rest isn’t history yet because we’re still writing the story every day. New uses for this incredibly versatile product keep popping up, and the best part? We’re having a blast exploring each one.
